Travel Photography:<\/strong>\u00a0The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone

Tina and I recently visited Ukraine for some travel photography. We made a visit to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone to photograph many abandoned buildings in some small villages surrounding the nuclear plant and around Pripyat, the city close to Reactor Number 4 which exploded on April 26, 1986 which led to the evacuation of Pripyat and the 30km Exclusion Zone.<\/p>\n

Within Pripyat we visited the abandoned main square, the Restaurant Polissya, Hotel Polissya, The Palace of Culture Energetik, the amusement park, the hospital, the fire station, Cafe Pripyat, Pripyat boating lake and fluvial port as well as various administrative buildings in the city.<\/p>\n

The Reactor Number 4 is now housed within the ‘New Safe Confinement’ meaning it is safe to visit and photograph in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. I have chosen to present the photographs in a particular consistent format with captions in both English and Ukrainian.<\/p>\n
