“Iconic acts inspired by an epic era!”
The beginning of September saw the launch of a brand new epic music festival Cool Britannia — which which took place at Knebworth — the stately home of rock. The new festival was opened on Saturday with the premier of Britpop Classical. Britpop Classical features a full rock back of some of the country’s best session musicians together with an amazing horns section and orchestra, all backing a spectacular array of vocalists including The Farm’s Peter Hooton performing All Together Now, Saffron from Republica with Ready To Go, Heaven 17’s Glenn Gregory covering Pulp’s Common People and the unique Phil Daniels (Quadrophenia, EastEnders) closed the set with Blur’s Parklife.
The Knebworth crowd enjoyed a weekend of sunshine as well as a host of classics from acts including Peter Hook and The Light, Feeder, Happy Mondays, M People’s Heather Small, Razorlight, Cast, Embrace and Ocean Colour Scene. Maxi Jazz of Faithless also wowed with a DJ set ahead of Sunday’s headline act Ocean Colour Scene.
