Wedding Photography: Tabley House Knutsford – The wedding of Donna and Marcus
Tabley House is a unique and beautiful wedding venue set in delightful parkland approximately 3 kilometres to the east of the town of Knutsford, Cheshire. A stunning Palladian mansion; Tabley House was built in 1767 by John Carr of York for the Leicester family who lived at Tabley for 700 years. The elegant, light Georgian rooms still display important paintings and furniture collected by the family over the centuries, the collection includes pieces of artwork by Turner, Lawrence and Reynolds and furniture by Gillow, Bullock and Chippendale amongst others. A 17th century chapel sits adjacent to Tabley house, the chapel was moved from an island in 1927 due to brine pumping and re-erected in the stately homes grounds. Tabley house has also been host to various TV productions, including Antiques Roadtrip, The Forsyth Saga and Flog it.
The Bridal Preparations took place at the Bride’s house with Tina attending to photograph the wedding bouquet, wedding dress, make up, hair, something borrowed something blue and documenting the preperations in a reportage fly-on-wall style. The groom, best man and other groomsmen stayed the night at Wychwood Park before travelling to Tabley House where Simon photographed some formal posed photos and also some less formal photographs in a reportage style.
Donna and Marcus’s Wedding Ceremony was due to take place in The Gallery at Tabley House, The Gallery is one of the great rooms of Cheshire. It incorporates the Drawing Room, Library and a bedroom and dressing room from Carr’s original design.
After photographing the Bride getting into the car, Tina rushed to Tabley House to photograph the bridal party arriving along the winding road through the beautiful grounds. The bridesmaids arrived in a Mercedes Stretch Limousine, and were closely followed by The Bride and the Mother of the Bride who were in a Bentley Chrysler 300, chauffeured in a very professional but laidback manner by Cheshire & Lancashire Cars. Simon waited in the courtyard to catch the cars arriving and photographed the Bride and her mother together in the car.
Ahead of the ceremony Simon was with the Groom and Groomsmen and Tina stayed with the Bride allowing them to document all the before emotions from both sides. The Bridesmaid led the way by walking down the white carpet aisle, closely followed by the Bride on the arm of her Mother, who was giving her away. The ceremony was conducted by Prudence of Your Ceremony (Cheshire East) after the giving of the rings she conducted a sand ceremony, inviting their Children forward to add their own coloured sand, this was followed closey by the first kiss and the signing of the register.
After the ceremony guests were provided with a champagne reception, drinks and canapés in The Portico Room, whilst enjoying the views across the park to Tabley Mere and being entertained by the amazing magic skills of Magician Pete Turner, aka ‘Fusion’.
The group photos took place on the grandiose stairs at the back of the house. With the group shot being arranged across them. This was then followed by some photos of just the couple together.
The Wedding Breakfast and Reception took place at Hartford Golf Club near Northwich, where the guests were entertained by Rich the Caricaturist and a photobooth. The speeches took place after the meal and there was time for some more couple photos before the cutting of the cake and the first dance.
