Press Photography: FA Chairman Greg Dyke visits Nantwich Town FC

On Saturday 3rd November the new Chairman of the FA, Greg Dyke, visited Nantwich Town’s Weaver Stadium. Greg was accompanied by Cheshire FA Chief Executive Simon Gerrard and met Nantwich Town club officials and was given a tour of the facilities at The Weaver Stadium as well as meeting the new Nantwich Town ladies team and the youth teams for the Dabbers.

Greg was given the tour by Nantwich Town Chairman Jon Gold and Football Development Officer Steve Smithies. Greg took time to chat to all the players and club officials. Nantwich Town Chairman Jon Gold said, “The FA Chairman Greg Dyke is focussed on developing initiatives and making positive changes at every level of football that will benefit and grow the English game over the coming years. We are proud that he has highlighted Nantwich Town as a community club from which he can both draw inspiration for his future plans for football at this level and now having witnessed things first hand, he can hopefully include us in any future developments and initiatives that may be introduced in coming years.”

Greg also took time to pose for a portrait photograph!

Commercial Photography: Olio & Farina Food Photography

We’ve recently been doing lots of photography for the brand new Olio & Farina website. Olio & Farina is a restaurant in Taunton, Somerset and we have paid a few visits to the restaurant to photograph the restaurant and also done some studio photography of some Italian themed food.

The restaurant have recently taken on a new chef and he has brought in a new menu. We popped down to Somerset to make a portrait of the new chef for the new website and also do some food photography of the new menu!

We also did some commercial photography of some products on sale in the lead up to Christmas all to help create a professional edge to the website and to help generate traffic for the site.

The food photography shows the range of dishes on offer at Olio & Farina in Taunton.

Wedding Photography: Crown Hotel Nantwich – Kathryn & Simon

We were back in Nantwich recently for another wedding at the historic Crown Hotel Assembly Room for the wedding of Kathryn and Simon. It was an intimate wedding in the wonderful surroundings of the historic Nantwich Hotel. After the wedding ceremony the guests mingled upstairs before the main reception in the evening in the ceremony room. The historic building is over 400 years old and maintains a good deal of its original features (including the wonderful wonky staircase!) and makes for a great location for wedding ceremonies.

Commercial Photography: Olio & Farina

Back in January we travelled down to Taunton in Somerset to photograph Olio & Farina. We got a good set of interior images of the restaurant for their planned new website.

We recently added to that set of photographs with some images to really set the scene for an Italian restaurant. We were commissioned to make a set of images that really helped create a Mediterranean atmosphere. The smells in the studio were great with fresh herbs, olives, Parma ham, garlic and tomatoes all part of the props for the photography! Of course, what Italian themes food photo shoot would be complete without pasta. We had about six different types and created a nice set of images to compliment the interior shots! My favourite to photograph has to be the tagliatelle!

The Olio & Farina website has now launched with all the photography supplied by Simon J. Newbury Photography.

Commercial Photography: Calico Heslop Make Up Artist

Simon J. Newbury Photography were asked to produce a set of commercial images for Calico Heslop. Calico is a make up artist and needed a professional set of photographs for online use and for social media to advertise her services.

We held a studio photoshoot to create a nice set of images to show off Calico’s wonderful work. Calico brought along four models and we had a great shoot in Crewe.

Calico said:

When we arrived at the shoot location they had set everything up and were ready and waiting to go. They were patient and great with my models, who I think felt much more at ease after only a few minutes in front of the camera. Simon was very willing to listen to what I wanted from the shots and really got what I was trying to achieve for each model. I was completely happy with their service, from start to finish, including the editing of the final pictures done by Tina, which I thought were fab!

Music Photography: James Porter

We met James a few years ago through Boxjam, the charity event we organise every year at The Box in Crewe. When we ran over 2 days James’ then band travelled over from Anglesey to play both stages over 2 days. We have remained in touch ever since and James got in touch to get some new publicity photos for publicising his new material as a solo musician.

James was very interested in the Urban Portrait style of photography so we did some photography in that style as well as some great black and white photos. It was great to work with such an enthusiastic musician who had travelled some way to work with us. We listened to James’ newest recordings in advance of the shoot to help get some inspiration.

We had a really good Sunday afternoon of music photography in Crewe and here are some of the results:

Music Photography: The Hallé Orchestra Live from Jodrell

The fourth and final Transmission from Jodrell Bank in Cheshire this year was the wonderful Hallé Orchestra. A very different event from the previous transmissions and a different atmosphere. It was a night of proms, picnics and exceptional fireworks!

The Hallé said of the event:

A concert inspired by the stars will feature Jupiter and Mars from Holst’s The Planets, classics by Strauss, Mozart and John Williams, as well as a selection of out-of-this-world film music such as Star Wars, Independence Day, E.T., Apollo 13, Close Encounters and more.

The event was a fantastic way to wind up the festival season after a great summer of music photography for us here at Simon J. Newbury Photography. As well as all four Live From Jodrell events we photographed Kendal Calling, The Charlatans at Delamere Forest, The Happy Mondays at Junction 16, Betley, Sandbach Fake Festival as well as Crewe Live and the Nantwich Jazz and Blues Festival!
