We were both really pleased and excited to be photographing the Kendal Calling festival again this year. The festival won the Best Medium Festival Award last year and was back with a great lineup for 2014. We photographed many of the bands and DJs playing this year and were on site every day of the festival as we were at Kendal Calling 2013!
Sadly the weather was not so good this year meaning an awful lot of mud on the Cumbria site. The weather failed to dampen the spirits of the sell out audience however with fancy dress, mud football and a great atmosphere!

Carlisle band The 45s headed to The Box in Crewe to head up a great evening of live music. They played an awesome set to an enthusiastic audience.

We had the pleasure of photographing a charity ball in the wonderful surroundings of The Concorde Hangar at Manchester Airport. We were on site to photograph guests and provide on the night prints to contribute towards the charity funds and also to document the evening for the charity to use for press releases.
One of the acts on the night were the vintage trio The Siren Sisters, who entertained the attendees upon arrival. We got some photos of the trio in action as well as some promo photos with the special backdrop of the Concorde aircraft. It was great, if a little unexpected, to get private access to photograph on Concorde! Below are some more photos of The Siren Sisters at The Concorde Hangar at Manchester Airport.

Our second gig of the weekend over at Delamere Forest was Boyzone supported by Kian Egan.
This show wasn’t a sell out but was very well attended. Support act Kian Egan, formerly of Westlife, warmed the crowd up with some Westlife classics as well as a series of cover songs.

We were commissioned to photograph two of this years Delamere Forest Live gigs. First up was Jessie J complete with support from Belfast’s Leah McFall (known from The Voice).
We were blessed with nice weather and even the technical difficulties on stage failed to dampen the spirits of the sell out crowd at this wonderful location for an outdoor music event. The yearly events are held by The Forestry Commission.

Simon J. Newbury Photography was commissioned by BIMM Manchester to photograph their two end of year shows. The two shows were held at The Ruby Lounge and The Factory 251 in Manchester. Both shows boasted a large array of musical styles and genres and musicians from BIMM. Tina was at both shows to capture each act as well as some backstage documentary photographs for the students to share and to create a record of both events.

It was great to be photographing The South on their return to Crewe at the Lyceum Theatre. We have previously photographed The South in Birmingham at the O2 Academy and at The M Club in Crewe as The New Beautiful South. We recently photographed Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott at The Lowry Theatre in Salford so it been good to hear lots of Beautiful South songs recently.

Simon J. Newbury Photography were commissioned to make a set of promotional images for local covers band Green Bullet. The band rehearse at local micro brewery Woodlands near Nantwich in Cheshire. The location boasts a great set of backdrops which we made full use of for the shoot.
